Anyone who watches morning television, especially here in New York, knows that a lot of Broadway ad dollars are spent trying to woo viewers. But who's really watching?
Most local customers said they do watch morning TV shows on a regular basis (54% NYC, 61% suburbs), and even our out-of-town customers watch while they're here (40%).
What do they watch? For NYC residents the two most popular stations were NBC (22.5%) followed by NY1 (19%) and ABC (16%). At the bottom were CNN and MSNBC, tied at 7% but ahead of Fox News (3%). When it comes to reaching the customers in the suburbs, NBC was on top (26%), followed by ABC (21%), CNN and MSNBC (both 7%), and Fox News (6%). NY1 is not carried in most suburbs and was chosen by just 2%. Out-of-town customers who watched while in NYC followed a similar pattern: NBC (33%), ABC (17%), CBS (11%), NY1 (9%), followed by CNN (9%), MSNBC (6%), Fox 5 (5%), and Fox News (5%).
Morning TV may not be the powerhouse it used to be, but it's still packs a punch.
